Contextualizing Technology-Facilitated Violence in India

This online toolkit is a collection of practical, ready-to-use resources related to technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) across India. TFGBV is an emerging issue across India, especially in urban centers with high rates of technology adoption.

Despite rising rates of TFGBV, there is a lack of culturally informed resources available for service providers and front-line workers. This toolkit aims to fill this gap by providing a comprehensive guide to responding to and supporting TFGBV survivors. Through curated case studies and culturally informed resources, this toolkit can build capacity among workers in the gender-based violence field.

Dynamic Format

This toolkit is a living document which will be continually updated and revised as new information or resources emerge. Its adaptive nature can account for shifts in the legal system, evolving platform rules, and stakeholder feedback. Moreover, the online format allows the content to grow over time, incorporate new information, and be translated into other languages widely spoken in India.

Stakeholder Guided

This toolkit has been shaped and influenced by the needs of stakeholders who have identified priority areas. Content has been reviewed and developed in consultation with front-line workers and those responding directly to technology-facilitated gender-based violence in India.

Culturally-Informed

This toolkit uses Indian terminology and highlights Indian-specific resources. It is available in Hindi, Marathi, and Kannada. The native languages of the major urban cities currently featured.
